I might as well admit it; I've denied it for years, but I DO admire the older automobiles! Why?? Because they have such individual style. You could look at an automobile manufactured before 1980 and knew what make and model was cruising down the road beside or in front of you. Today's cars have lost that special something. Car manufacturers are more concerned with 'gadetry' inside a car. Forget about room for bulging bodies; leg, head and arm room. Forget about comfort. Today's concern is: what type of audio equipment; do you have a DVD player? Can you read your email while driving? How many radio stations can you access? Can your car tell you how to get to the next restaurant? Can your car see in back of you with a TV camera? Can it parallel park itself? Can your car cook breakfast on the way to work and wash your clothes while you run in and grab some groceries........ You get the idea!!
Today, if you own a classic automobile, you really have a dead breed. I predict that in future episodes of Antique Roadshows they will be showing these lovely, beautiful classic cars, and Boy! Will they be worth lots of money!!! And another "plus" owning an "old" car: they were simpler to work on. The auto techicians love to work on older cars because the parts are easier to access under the hood. Today's new cars are computer driven and everything is packed on top of one another under the hood. You have to take out a lot to reach what you need to actually work on. What does that mean to you, the owner? It means more money to repair your ride. Hourly labor is high. Should you have to pay good money just to get at the malfunctioning part?? I think not. But you do!
So this Blog is dedicated to the beautiful Classic cars, either through my seeing them in person, or my friend Robert Prescod who loves them with much more intensity than I do.... which is a bit odd because Robert does not drive. He never has, and has no desire to possess a license. But he LOVES his automobiles. I learned how to put my photos in slideshow format to make it easier for you to look at the photos. I hope it proves to be convenient for you. If it doesn't please let me know. There will be times when I will revert to individual photos though...
